Victoria Morgan-Smith

Hello, I’m Victoria

I help organisations work out what matters most, and then help the people in them do it well. I’ve spent my career in the space between data and people: I started out as a web developer, and over nearly twenty years at the Financial Times I moved from writing code to leading teams, running a portfolio of technology across five functions and coaching leaders along the way.

The thing I’ve loved most, wherever I’ve been, is getting people talking to each other. I started a series of internal conferences at the FT, running the first few and then handing them on so they could carry on without me. I also founded Coach Camp Cambridge, a UK-wide community of agile coaches that’s been going for over six years. I like creating places where people feel able to ask questions, challenge how things are done and learn from each other, and I wrote a book, Internal Technical Conferences, about how to do it in tech, and beyond.

More recently I’ve worked in the charity sector. At Health & Independent Living Support, a social enterprise supporting older and vulnerable people, I measured the organisation’s social value and helped its leadership team focus on the services that matter most.

I enjoy work where the numbers and the human side both count, and where the aim is to make life better for the people being served.

I’m happiest when I’m asking good questions, listening carefully and helping a group of people find clarity together. And when I’m not doing that, I enjoy spending time in my garden or with my cats, who have even been the subject of a conference talk: What 5 Cats Can Teach Us About an Enabling Environment.

If any of this sounds useful, or you’d just like to chat about communities, culture or measuring what matters, I’d love to hear from you.

My Values

Courage - for growth

Growth lives outside our comfort zone. We have the courage to experiment, test new ideas, and embrace the unknown—knowing that meaningful progress, for our people and our business, requires taking thoughtful risks.

Curiosity - always learning

Every situation—from an unfamiliar domain to a personal conflict—is an opportunity to grow. We approach every challenge by seeking first to understand, replacing judgment with curiosity, and turning empathy into lasting insight.

Connection - to amplify

Individual reflection sparks the idea; connection gives it power. When every perspective is genuinely included, seen, and built upon, individual dots connect into collective wisdom—amplifying both our people and our potential.
